In the vast realm of artificial intelligence, not all innovations are analytical. AI is now spurring a paradigm shift in the creative field, churning out music, art, and literature that challenge the traditional notions of human-led creativity. This upheaval provokes profound deliberation about authorship, authenticity and the fundamental nature of what we perceive as creativity.

The origins of AI — a product of the post-WWII era — were not rooted in the artistic. Its pioneers conceived it as a tool; Alan Turing himself foresaw its purpose in breaking enemy codes. No forethought was yet given to the artistry that would later infuse these machines. In the early days, AI was limited to rudimentary tasks, a far cry from the creativity-charging dynamo it is today.

Over time, developments like backpropagation and leaps in computational power provided AI the capability to learn and improve, setting the stage for its entrance into the creative arena. In recent years, AI's foray into the arts has been remarkable. 2015 saw the first AI-composed music album, 'Elysium'. By 2018, an AI-developed artwork, 'Portrait of Edmond de Belamy', had comfortably found a home at Christie's, selling for a formidable sum.

The resonating prowess of AI's creative capabilities are perhaps most discernable in literature. OpenAI's GPT-3 astonished everyone with its lifelike prose, stirring discussions about authorship, authenticity, and the very definition of creativity. Proponents argue that AI's creative abilities bespeak of a new dawn of co-creation, where man and machine collaborate to produce masterpieces. Yet, critics worry about the lines that such collaborations blur, pondering the ethical implications of AI-driven creativity.

AI's impact on creativity and the arts brings to the fore larger questions about its role in the grander scheme of society. As it rapidly redefines the scope and criteria of creativity, it poses a mind-boggling question: is 'thinking' the primary determinant of creativity? The potential of a future swarmed by AI artists, musicians, and writers, incessantly churning out art, music, and literature, is a compelling ponderable. Yet, as the grip of AI tightens, the question remains: is it the grand liberation of creativity from human restrictions or the beginning of a shift that could render human creativity obsolete?

As AI's creative prowess continues to stir wonder, consternation, and everything in between, one thing is certain: AI's role in redefining creativity is only just beginning. But whether this leads to an enriched tapestry of human creativity or obscures the essence of human imagination, only time will tell.
